Volvo Ocean Race to sail to China in 2009
Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) will bring one of the top around-the-world sailing competitions in the world to China in early 2009, announced Wednesday a press conference jointly held by the race organizers and China's yachting governing body.

About the Volvo Ocean Race 2008/2009 QingDao In-Port Race
The courses for 2008-09 will be windward-leeward, with a mid-course gate and triangular viewing area. Saturday 1st February to the 14th February 2009 - Race Village open.
Friday 30th January 2009 - Expected Yacht Arrivals at the arrivals pontoon.

The in-port racing during this edition of the Volvo Ocean Race is sure to be among the highlights of the entire event. This is the closest that spectators can get to the action without actually being on board one of the race boats.

QINGDAO IN-PORT RACE ABANDONED
With visbility down to just 200 metres as thick fog envelopes the race course and the wind struggling above 3-5 knots at best, the Race Committee has abandoned racing for the day. Fog and light winds meant fair racing couldn't be conducted, leaving all concerned to make another attempt on Sunday.

At the third time of asking, the in-port series was completed in Qingdao. This region experiences light, shifty winds in addition to a strong current. Today was no exception as Ericsson 4 took the overall spoils.
